Audience Feedback
The lighting an overall visual quality of the sequence was
well done and looked professionally done and edited. There was no stand out
visual complaint as the look of the video looks good and is a good balance of brightness
without any moments of darkness where we as the audience would struggle to see
what is happening in the shot. The audio quality is also good, no drops in
sound and the sound is constant with everything sounding balanced. However, the
plot and action involved in the opening sequence is fairly bland with not much
action happening, so maybe a bit higher tempo action maybe would be a good
idea.
From this feedback I got from a pupil, it states how that the vast majority of my editing and overall production was quite good when it came to shooting the actual sequence, with the shots being good, lighting being good and it being professionally done with it all workign together smoothly with no moments of error or lack of quality. However, it's the plot and pace of the sequence which lets down my opening, as it goes at quite a slow pace, with no major action going on until the end of the sequence where the killer kills Fred. So I will take this into account for my future media coursework when it comes to creating my A2 piece, where I will try and have a bit more of a focus on soemthing more appealing to the audience where they'll be intrigued to view my video.
The plot and narrative of the opening sequence is a bit bland
with not much really happening, if there was anything to improve, I’d suggest
the opening plot of the sequence. The rest of the visuals and audio is actually
good, with it being well edited with good smooth cuts and transitions between
shots. The sound is very clear and is constant throughout the sequence and
makes it easy to listen to.
Similarly with this feedback, the criticism I got was to do with the fact the plot and narrative was lacking, and there wasn't much basis to the plot so maybe it seems I would of needed to possibly have more of a focus on the narrative and focus on the main plot with some enhanced action to gain attention. Also like the other piece of feedback I recieved, the person praises my audio and video quality as well as my editing saying
how it is edited well and it all comes togetehr quite smoothly and looks good overall with there not beign any errorrs or sloppy moments in the video where it lacks a bit of quality. Monday, 18 April 2016

Sound Editing
Sound
When it came to adding sound for practical use such as
walking or opening doors, I used a website called ‘soundfree’ which allows
people to go onto the site and download copyright free, and free sounds for
free use. This website was extremely useful for finding non diegetic sounds for
the video as I can simply type in what sound I like and it’ll come up in the
search. By adding in these extra sounds, it makes the video seem more well
done, more clear and generally more professional with a wide range of sounds
being added to be more clear in editing.
The image to the right shows just a few
examples of some practical sounds being added into the video in editing.
I also added in music with my video while in editing, I
wanted to choose music which wasn’t scary, but more of a low and vague sound
which was ambiguous and generates some sort of unawareness and tension for the
viewer. I had to constantly alter and play with the volume control in
editing, so that when someone is talking
or non-diegetic sounds are being made, the music is lowered down, so that the
volume of other areas of the video can be audible and turned up. I believe in
the end I was able to keep a constant volume level throughout the video, where
it was never too loud or quiet, or where sounds were being played over each
other.
Adding Opening Titles
Adding Opening Titles
I added the opening titles into my thriller video by simply
creating the titles inside of the premiere pro programme itself, but as a
separate file in which I can add onto my file on top of the video so that the
text overlays over the playing video, so that the text appears on the screen
while the video is playing. I made sure that the text titles was put
into times of the video where the white font is clearly visible and not being
merged into with a white background which makes the font difficult to read for
the viewer. Furthermore, I had all the text titles play for the same amount of
time throughout the video, this is to make sure that the text isn’t on the
screen for too long and doesn’t distract the viewer form the film, nor too
short so the viewer missed the titles as they went by too quickly.
For the company and the film titles, I had them be displayed
with a black background, with a, longer amount of time on the screen. I did
this so that the titles get the most amount of time and focus possible, and
also so that the audience can clearly see and take in the title of the film so
that they know what may be in store with the rest of the film.
