When it came to adding sound for practical use such as walking or opening doors, I used a website called ‘soundfree’ which allows people to go onto the site and download copyright free, and free sounds for free use. This website was extremely useful for finding non diegetic sounds for the video as I can simply type in what sound I like and it’ll come up in the search. By adding in these extra sounds, it makes the video seem more well done, more clear and generally more professional with a wide range of sounds being added to be more clear in editing.                                       

The image to the right shows just a few examples of some practical sounds being added into the video in editing.

I also added in music with my video while in editing, I wanted to choose music which wasn’t scary, but more of a low and vague sound which was ambiguous and generates some sort of unawareness and tension for the viewer. I had to constantly alter and play with the volume control in editing,  so that when someone is talking or non-diegetic sounds are being made, the music is lowered down, so that the volume of other areas of the video can be audible and turned up. I believe in the end I was able to keep a constant volume level throughout the video, where it was never too loud or quiet, or where sounds were being played over each other.

I added the opening titles into my thriller video by simply creating the titles inside of the premiere pro programme itself, but as a separate file in which I can add onto my file on top of the video so that the text overlays over the playing video, so that the text appears on the screen while the video is playing.                                                                                                                                                                                       I made sure that the text titles was put into times of the video where the white font is clearly visible and not being merged into with a white background which makes the font difficult to read for the viewer. Furthermore, I had all the text titles play for the same amount of time throughout the video, this is to make sure that the text isn’t on the screen for too long and doesn’t distract the viewer form the film, nor too short so the viewer missed the titles as they went by too quickly.

For the company and the film titles, I had them be displayed with a black background, with a, longer amount of time on the screen. I did this so that the titles get the most amount of time and focus possible, and also so that the audience can clearly see and take in the title of the film so that they know what may be in store with the rest of the film.

I started crating my opening titles for my opening sequence and made these titles on adobe premiere pro. I used white text and a gouldy old style font for the text where I introduce the audience to the major cast members of the film. I had them in a big font of around 24-36 so that is clearly visible and readable without much problem with being able to see the text. 

Also the company/distributor logo was made via picking a picture off of the internet and simply applying text to it that is relevant to the picture that makes the entire logo seem like a company logo and name. I simply resized the image to be a slight bit bigger so that it could fit the screen more and then put the text in a bigger font in proportion to it.
